A new interior is needed for Mito Hotel as part of its rebranding effort into the boutique hotel market. As a design hotel, the idea of the old and the new, rustic but elegant at the same time are used to contemporize this new lobby space.
The challenge is the existing old structure and its low ceiling. The design process includes creating new spaces such as additional office, a server room and a small meeting room with the goal of achieving flexibility of these functions. The ornate tile is rustic yet elegant and soft, the world map is made of metal mesh to create the focus of the lobby and the softness of collage artworks of Phnom Penh gives a glimpse of glorious architecture of the city to the hotel guests.
