CARVING OUT THE ATRIUM
Chip Mong Baktouk Center is our first steel structure mixed use building which contains retails on the lower 3 levels, commercial office on the top 4 levels with a roof terrace overlooking to the bustling neighborhood. The partial community retail center is designed around a SCOOPED IN PLAZA leading into the ATRIUM. The PLAZA helps to bring in the people by creating an interesting shaded terrace green space – a respite from the busy streets for people to hang out.
The plaza and the atrium not only add interest to the building but ensure the connectivity within the retail area and visual connectivity from the street ; thus helping in more viable retail spaces.
The all steel structure is designed to expose the dark steel framing to reflect the modernity as well as the industrial norm of erecting steel structure. The overall facade is designed to variation in forms, voids and shading frames in order to create interesting dept and shadow that can be seen from the street.
